DES MOINES, Iowa —
UnityPoint Health is the first organization to partner with Mayo Clinic, using its artificial intelligence software, Platform_Insights, to inform and streamline patient care.
The program uses de-identified patient information and research from the Mayo Clinic to help doctors figure out the next steps of their treatment. According to the Mayo Clinic website, the AI software was trained on over 3 billion lab tests, 1.6 billion clinical notes, and over 6 billion medical images from a variety of illnesses and ailments.
"Platform_Insights is really just additional tools in the toolbox." Gregory Johnson, Chief Medical Officer for UnityPoint Health, said.
He says it won't replace doctors as they'll still be the ones making the final call for their patients' treatment. But
