HASTINGS, Neb. (KSNB) - In the first round of the NAIA National Tournament for a chance to play fifth-seeded John Brown in the next round, Hastings was in a scoreless tie with Friends at the half, then three goals in the second half lifted them to a 3-1 win against the Falcons on Thursday afternoon.
Sophomore Payton Tanner took the first shot of the game in the fourth minute, missing wide. In the 20th minute, sophomore goalkeeper Tatiana Villasenor saved a header attempt by the Falcons. Later in the half, senior Megan Lampe missed a shot high and sophomore Sabrina DeHart ‘s shot was saved to keep it a scoreless tie at the half.
In the opening half, both teams attempted three shots and had one shot on goal. It was a physical first half, with 12 fouls between the two teams
