BUFFALO, N.Y. — Leaders in the City of Buffalo came together Thursday night to talk about gun violence and public safety. The city's new Office of Gun Violence Prevention held its first community round-table.

The goal is to bring residents, including young people, and service providers into one room to talk about what's working, what's missing, and what resources are needed.

Masten district council member Zeneta Everhart, who pushed to create the office last year, joined organizations like Buffalo Police, Breaking Barriers, BestSelf Behavioral Health, and others to hear directly from the community.

Everhart said the meeting was about bringing people together and hearing what families are dealing with and where elected officials may be missing the mark when it comes to gun violence.
