MATHER, Calif. —

Six people were injured, including two children, in a multi-vehicle crash near Mather Airport in Sacramento County on Thursday, according to the Sacramento Metropolitan Fire District.

Crews responded to the crash around 5 p.m. on Mather Boulevard near Arnold Way. Sac Metro Fire said it called for a mass casualty incident response due to the number of people involved.

Officials said two people sustained moderate injuries in the crash, while four people had minor injuries. Sac Metro Fire said all six were taken to an area hospital.

Footage from LiveCopter 3 showed at least two vehicles with heavy front-end damage. Another vehicle appeared to have rear-end damage.

It's not clear what led up to the collision. The California Highway Patrol is investigating.
