FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) -- The California Department of Justice is not pursuing criminal charges after a man was shot and killed by Fresno Police.
The California Attorney General made the announcement following the investigation into the 2023 shooting of Roberto Corchado Jr.
Police say the 29-year-old refused to pull over near Shaw Avenue and Highway 41 on March 4 of that year.
Initially, officers say they backed off but Corchado began driving recklessly, and they rammed his car at Herndon near Ingram.
Police say Corchado shot at officers and they fired back.
The suspect hit an officer and a patrol car, but no one was injured at that point. The suspect then ran toward a driver in the area.
An officer told him to stop running and then they said he did not comply, and that officer shot
