EAST LANSING — The No. 2-seeded Michigan State women's soccer team ousted last season's national runner-up Wake Forest from the NCAA tournament with a 1-0 win on Thursday, Nov. 20, in the second round.

MSU got its lone goal from forward Kayla Briggs in the 69th minute on a right-footed shot from the top of the penalty area that floated over the outstretched arms of Wake Forest goalkeeper Valentina Amaral. This marks the third consecutive season the Spartans have reached the Sweet 16 round of the postseason.
