An Australian Olympian who has built a career on YouTube fears the Albanese government's social media ban will impact young kids with aspirations to be content creators and entrepreneurs.
Olympic diver Sam Fricker, 23, first started creating content on YouTube in 2013 when he was still in school.
The New South Wales-born athlete, who represented Australia at the Tokyo 2021 Olympies, has since built up a significant following on the platform to a community of 5.8 million subscribers .
Fricker uses his YouTube presence to produce educational diving-related content targeted at a young audience interested in the sport.
Fricker not only creates videos but is an avid consumer of content on the platform, which he told Sky News has "shaped" him into the person he is today.
