ESCANABA — The driver of a pickup truck that crashed into the rear side of Dunham’s Sports at Escanaba’s Delta Plaza Mall Sunday died at the scene Escanaba Public Safety revealed Wednesday.

The single-vehicle accident happened about 2:46 p.m. east of the entrance to L&M Fleet Supply and behind the bowling alley. According to Escanaba Public Safety’s news release, responding personnel immediately began a medical assessment of the driver, now identified as 54-year-old Kenneth Wyka of Montreal, Wis.

“Despite lifesaving efforts, the gentleman was pronounced deceased at the scene,” the news release states. “The Department of Escanaba Public Safety extends its deepest condolences to the family and all those affected by this tragic incident.”
