Balasore: A man was electrocuted to death while trying to pluck flowers from a garden not knowing that the plant was charged with electricity in Nilgiri area of Odisha’s Balasore district on Friday.

As per information, the incident occurred in ward No. 5 under Nilagiri NAC. The deceased has been identified as Tapasa Das. ADVERTISEMENT

Sources said the house owner had electrified the flower plants to prevent theft, and the victim, who came to pick flowers, suffered a fatal electric shock and died.

Local residents later spotted his body and informed his family. The family reached the site and informed the Nilgiri police about the tragic incident.

A police team visited the site and conducted a preliminary investigation. The body was sent for postmortem and further probe is underway.
