Six months after deferring an initial vote on the plan, the city planning commission this week advanced what’s set to become Richmond’s first citywide guide for preserving its cultural resources.

The commission OK’d a revised version of the 200-page Cultural Heritage Stewardship Plan , a document stemming from the Richmond 300 master plan that’s now set to be added as an amendment to that larger growth guide.

The 8-1 vote at the commission’s meeting Tuesday followed a series of meetings in recent months by a commission subcommittee that was appointed in May. The subcommittee was tasked with revisiting the proposal and addressing concerns about potential impacts, such as on housing production and affordability in the city.
