A local swimming club has just finished the second and final phase of its six-year transformation of a former mall department store into a large-scale aquatic center.

The NOVA Aquatics Center-Regency this month capped off its $10.3 million second-floor expansion project at the former Macy’s South building in Regency mall in western Henrico.

Located at 100 Nova Way, the 29,000-square-foot expansion includes 1,000 second-floor spectator seats around three sides of the facility pool, doubling its seating capacity, as well as an expanded swim shop and a new 180-person capacity community room for events and gatherings.
