The City of South Perth will open the gates to its recycling centre this Saturday November 22, inviting residents to take part in its inaugural recycling centre open day.

The free, family-friendly event will give the community a behind-the-scenes look at the city’s waste and recycling operations at 199 Thelma Street, Como.

It will include its recently opened reuse shop and a Containers for Change “drop and go” point.

Visitors will be able to chat with the city’s waste team, learn how to make the most of the new facilities, and see a Cleanaway recycling truck up close.

Demonstrations on food waste composting, games, giveaways and children’s activities will also be on offer. The verge valet team will be on hand to explain how the city’s new pre-booked verge collection service works.
