A new JD Wetherspoon pub is set to open in County Durham next month as part of its plans to launch six new sites. As recently reported , the popular chain has also taken over a pub at Holystone on Tyneside which is to be renamed The Blue Bell and is due to welcome in customers from next Wednesday.
Set to follow suit is The Red Anchor in Stockton. This will take over the former Brewers Fayre pub - on Preston Farm Industrial Estate - with a new name referencing Stockton's maritime history.
Following a refurbishment, the newcomer's initial opening date had been planned for November 19 but the big day now has been rescheduled to December 10. Ahead of that will be the opening of The Blue Bell - on the site of
