Energy price cap increase - All you need to know
Energy bills for millions of UK households are set to rise again starting in January 2026. Energy industry regulator, Ofgem, announced the 0.2% increase of the quarterly energy price cap.
The price cap for the average annual dual fuel energy bill will increase by 0.2% a year. Specifically, the cap will go up from the current £1,755 to £1,758 for the January to March period.
Despite the increase, the price cap is technically lower compared to the same period last year, Ofgem has said. This real-terms decrease amounts to a 2% reduction , or about £37 less , than the figure from January to March of the previous year
