With this year coming to a close (too quickly), let’s end it with a bang. As in: turn in those unwanted or illegal fireworks, to start the new year safely and responsibly.
On Sunday, local law enforcement agencies are holding the last fireworks buyback event of 2025, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the HPD Training Academy at 93-093 Waipahu Depot Road. It’s a good chance to get rid of fireworks stash, no questions asked, and receive a grocery gift card in return. It’ll be $5 per pound of illegal fireworks and $10 per pound for display fireworks; $50 max per turn-in. So keep your household and neighbors safe — participate.
