A hero who confronted the knifeman during the Huntingdon train attack on November 1 has been awarded for his "immense bravery". Stephen Crean's hand will never fully recover , after he was stabbed while defending others during the terrifying rampage.
The 61-year-old was one of the 11 people taken to hospital after the attack on the LNER service from Doncaster to London King's Cross. On Wednesday (November 19), Mayor of Merton Martin Whelton presented a Merton Heroes award to Mr Crean.
Mayor Whelton commented: "It was an honour as Mayor of Merton to present a Merton Heroes award to Stephen Crean tonight for his actions in the Huntingdon train attack and his interventions to stop the attacker. A true hero recognised for his immense bravery."
