Film festivals can be a showy affair, bringing in glitz and glamour. But the opening ceremony of the 56th edition of the International Film Festival of India (IFFI) 2025 on Thursday was more an acknowledgement of the heart of cinema — its people — as it was of Goa’s festive, vibrant spirit that has allowed it to host the festival for nearly two decades now. In a first, the festival kicked off with a spectacle, showcasing viewers to a cultural extravaganza.
