Almost a year later, it is remembered as one of the most consequential plays of Dan Campbell’s tenure. With 43 seconds left in a deadlocked game against Green Bay last December, the Detroit Lions faced fourth-and-inches at the Packers’ 21-yard line.The conventional move in this situation would have been to attempt a short field goal and try to take the lead. But Campbell had other considerations. His defense, ravaged by injuries, was wilting after surrendering points on four of Green Bay’s previous five drives. So, Campbell rolled the dice. Moments later, David Montgomery took the handoff from Jared Goff and surged forward for 7 yards, picking up a first down that allowed the Lions to run down the clock. Two plays later, kicker Jake Bates sent the ball 35 yards through the uprights
