A Gaston County nonprofit is holding a Thanksgiving giveaway at the Erwin Center on Saturday, Nov. 22, offering clothes, shoes, socks, household items, and turkeys to anyone that needs them.
Kenneth Falls Ministries will give out 600 turkeys during its third annual "Thanksgiveaway," said Aurelia Falls, one of the nonprofit's founders.
"The first year we did it we were able to give away 100 turkeys. This year with donors and stores, we're able to give away 600 turkeys," Falls said. "To us, that's the big difference this year. When we presented what we wanted to do this year to our donors … it was like, this was the year. It's a bigger need, and we need to do more."
The giveaway will run from 10 a.m. to noon, but people who want a turkey are encouraged to get in line early, Falls said.
