EFD K-9 helps in arson investigation

EVANSVILLE, Ind. (WFIE) - Evansville Fire Department officials say they are investigating a suspected arson that happened early Thursday morning.

According to officials, first responders were sent to a home on North Morton Avenue.

The victim told fire officials they heard a loud boom and when they went outside they saw the fire.

Authorities say their newest crew member K-9 Indie helped alert them to the presence of ignitable liquid accelerants.

Officials say based on Indie’s alerts and observations from her handler, the arson investigation was then launched.

Fire officials say with less than a day on the job, Indie is already putting her nose to work.
