ILLINOIS ( 25News Now ) - A state commission just made a decision on Ameren Illinois gas prices that will affect your bills. Thanks to this ruling, prices will still increase, but not as much as Ameren wanted.

Ameren Illinois delivers natural gas to 800,000 thousand customers across Central and Southern Illinois.

The Illinois Commerce Commission ruled Wednesday that Ameren Illinois must cut a proposed rate hike by 43%.

Ameren Illinois requested $128.8 million in rate hikes, but they’ll only get $73 million. This price increase will come around the end of the year, impacting delivery rates. This is what utilities charge you to cover the coast of delivering gas to your home or business, about a third to half of a gas bill.
