VATICAN CITY — U.S. Senator Amy Klobuchar met with Pope Leo XIV at the Vatican alongside a Ukrainian delegation focused on the return of over 19,000 Ukrainian children abducted by Russia. Klobuchar praised the Pope as a "true moral force for peace and justice" in their mission to bring these children home.
"Pope Leo is a true moral force for peace and justice and a champion for children around the world," Klobuchar said. "We cannot accept a world where children are abducted during wartime and used as hostages for negotiations."
Klobuchar, who has been a strong advocate for Ukraine, joined the delegation to support their efforts. She also met with Cardinal Matteo Maria Zuppi to discuss these issues further.
