MINNEAPOLIS — The father accused of murdering his son, Manny Collins, is asking a judge to move his trial out of Anoka County.
The request by the public defender for Jordan Collins Sr. was filed in court on Thursday, known as a motion for a change of venue. The defense team argues there’s too much media coverage of the case, and for that reason, Collins cannot have a fair and impartial trial in Anoka County.
Manny Collins was just 16 years old when he was reported missing in early May. His remains were found in a landfill near Elk River in June. His father was subsequently arrested and charged with second-degree murder.
Assistant Public Defender Kayla McKeeth listed reports by local news outlets , including KARE 11, that covered aspects of Manny’s disappearance, death and the charge
