A person was fatally shot in Baton Rouge Thursday night, the second fatal shooting of that day, officials said.

The shooting happened shortly before 9 p.m. in the 6500 block of Hanks Drive, EMS said.

No further details were immediately available.

Earlier on Thursday, at about 2 p.m., a person was found fatally shot on St. Gerard Avenue, Baton Rouge Police said. That incident is also still under investigation.
