If America's trains are often the butt of jokes, Amtrak is laughing today: the national rail company is enjoying record ridership and revenue, according to the latest quarterly numbers.

Amtrak closed fiscal year (FY) 2025 (October 2024 – September 2025) with record ridership and revenue. The company provided 34.5 million customer trips during FY25, a 5.1% increase over FY24, and increased network capacity by 4.3%. Amtrak also saw $2.7 billion in adjusted ticket revenue, which was 10.4% higher year-over-year.

According to Amtrak, it saw $3.9 billion in total operating revenue that includes payments from state partners for state-supported routes, a 9.1% increase over FY24. The company also saw unaudited adjusted operating earnings improve by 15.1% over FY24.
