MADISON, Wis. — Two women, one of whom allegedly struck another while getting into a parked vehicle, were hospitalized Thursday night, the Madison Police Department said.

Officers responded to the scene near Knutson Drive and Westport Road on the city's north side at around 10:30 p.m. regarding a crash.

Multiple witnesses on the scene reported that a car quickly accelerated in the parking lot, hitting a 45-year-old woman, who was left in critical condition. The suspected vehicle also crashed into another car in the area.

When the 64-year-old driver was pulled from her vehicle, police reported that she was unconscious.

According to authorities, nothing suspicious was located in the driver's vehicle.

This remains an ongoing and active investigation.
