DES MOINES, Iowa —

An outside report into the hiring of former Des Moines Public School Superintendent Ian Roberts was released today by district officials.

Two main parts of Roberts' hiring were reviewed. They include:

The hiring process of Roberts, including the selection of JG Consulting and factors that contributed to employing the firm for the background checks and search.

What members of the school board members knew of Roberts' immigration status and when.

Roberts began leading Iowa's largest school district in July 2023. On Sept. 26, federal immigration authorities arrested Roberts and took him into custody for being in the country illegally.
