DESOTO COUNTY, Fla. ( WWSB ) - Two men were arrested Thursday after deputies said they shot and killed a heifer cow while trespassing on private property near NW County Road 661.

Upon arrival, law enforcement discovered that the two unidentified trespassers had killed one of the heifer cows on the property.

Matthew Robert Wright and Gavin Hunter McMillan were found next to the deceased cow. The cow had an obvious gunshot wound to the head. Wright admitted to shooting the cow not once, but twice, and claimed he had no plan for what to do with the animal afterward.

Both Wright and McMillan were arrested and charged with:

Armed Trespass – Felony

Aggravated Animal Cruelty – Felony

Knowingly propelling a potentially lethal proj
