A plan to close and relocate multiple schools across Jefferson County Public Schools is expected to save the district about $4 million, a figure Superintendent Brian Yearwood said will help the district inch closer to achieving the massive cuts it needs to make ahead of the next budget.

"Small things add up," Yearwood said during a press conference Nov. 21, one day after JCPS announced a proposed plan to close two schools, consolidate two schools and relocate two schools before the start of the next school year. Overall, JCPS is looking to make $132 million in cuts to the budget that will be presented in January.
