AUSTIN, Texas — The Austin-Bergstrom International Airport (AUS) is preparing for one of its busiest travel periods of the year as Thanksgiving approaches.
Airport officials said travelers flying between Friday, Nov. 21, and Monday, Dec. 1, should expect crowded terminals and should plan ahead.
While passenger estimates aren’t yet available, last year’s Thanksgiving period saw nearly 370,000 departing travelers. The Sunday after Thanksgiving was the busiest travel day, with TSA screening just more than 35,000 people.
Austin Aviation officials said they are increasing staffing and improving operations throughout the holiday season. Additional staff will be on hand to assist with navigation, line management and terminal operations.
Travelers are encouraged to plan ahead, allow extra time
