The last time Mason Symons competed for Team USA, the Hershey native and his teammates won a silver medal in wheelchair rugby at the 2024 Paralympic Games in Paris.
On Thursday, the 36-year-old earned a spot on the 2026 USA Wheelchair Rugby National Training Squad.
Symons was among 16 athletes who earned a roster spot following a three-day selection camp Nov. 13-15 at the Lakeshore Foundation Training site in Birmingham, Alabama.
Symons, part of USA’s Mixed Team that won a gold medal in the Para Pan American Games in Chile in 2023, helped push Team USA into the gold medal round in Paris.
Japan would claim a 48-41 victory for its first Paralympic gold medal.
Symons, a wrestler and 2007 graduate of Milton Hershey School, hyperextended his spine in a motorcycle accident two years later.
