A 27-year-old man is accused of robbing a Long Island gas station at knifepoint and then brawling with cops during his arrest.
Officers responded to the Sunoco station on Grand Avenue in Baldwin around 11 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 20, for a robbery.
An employee told police that a man walked into the store, pulled out a knife, and demanded cash. He then ran off with an undisclosed amount of money.
Officers launched a search and found the suspect nearby shortly after. The man — identified by police as Austin Dupuy, 27, of Baldwin — fought with officers before they were able to take him into custody, police said. Three knives were recovered at the scene, they noted.
Investigators later linked Dupuy to two earlier incidents:
- An attempted robbery on Friday, Nov. 7, at the Qwik Pic Convenience Store at 2169 Grand Avenue in Baldwin
- A grand larceny reported Monday, Nov. 10, in Rockville Centre
Dupuy is charged with first-degree robbery, three counts of third-degree criminal possession of a weapon, second-degree grand larceny, and resisting arrest. He was scheduled to be arraigned Friday, Nov. 21, at First District Court in Hempstead.
