It’s easy for Boston Red Sox fans to overlook Kristian Campbell’s ongoing development while they focus on other of the club’s emerging young stars like Roman Anthony, Marcelo Mayer and Connelly Early. But Campbell’s career arc has been fascinating already.
Campbell’s meteoric rise within Boston’s farm system in 2024 happened at a pace seldom seen in baseball (with any franchise), and it landed him an Opening Day roster spot above Anthony and Mayer this past season.
After a torrid start (contributing to the Red Sox signing him to an extension), Campbell cooled off big-time, as if the sheer speed of his ascent had begun to take a toll. It also didn’t help that KC was being asked to juggle multiple defensive positions while facing MLB pitching for the first time.
He’s still just 23. Camp
