BUFFALO, N.Y. — Buffalo Police say five people have been arrested in connection with an armed robbery at Canisius University Thursday night.

According to police, shortly before 10 p.m., E District officers responded to a report that a female student had been robbed at gunpoint in the Eastwood parking lot. The suspects allegedly took her keys, phone and vehicle.

About an hour after the robbery, officers spotted the stolen vehicle on the 190-North near Dingens Street traveling toward Downtown Buffalo. The vehicle struck a patrol car and then a pole at Goodell and Elm Streets. Police say everyone inside the vehicle ran but were taken into custody a short distance away.

Those arrested include 22-year-old Demario Wells of Buffalo and four Buffalo males aged 12, 14, 15 and 16.
