WESTBROOK, Maine — Westbrook High School's football team will play in its first-ever state championship game on Saturday at Fitzpatrick Stadium in Portland.
The Blue Blazes are a one-seed, matching up against Class B North's one-seed, Cony High School. Westbrook defeated perennial powerhouse Kennebunk on Nov. 14 to earn a trip to the state title game.
Head coach Sam Johnson (WHS '12) played on the football team as a student and joined the coaching staff in 2014, rising to head coach in the spring of 2022. The students who were freshmen during his inaugural season as head coach are now seniors.
