PHOENIX – A man who was shot by police in Phoenix last month was released from the hospital and taken to jail on Thursday, authorities said.

Manuel Vasquez, 40, was booked on counts of aggravated assault with a dangerous weapon, aggravated assault on a first responder, prohibited weapons possession, discharging of a firearm in city limits and unlawful flight.

Vasquez had been hospitalized since Oct. 10, when he suffered injuries that at the time were described as life-threatening.

What happened before man was shot by police in Phoenix?

The incident began when officers responded to a stolen vehicle call near Fourth Avenue and Osborn Road around 6:45 p.m. and heard unrelated gunfire nearby, according to the Phoenix Police Department.
