Police officers have been cleared of any wrongdoing after a detained woman died in custody. Helen Williams, 43 spent 33 hours in Caernarfon police station and was due to be returned to prison but she died in custody. North Wales Police referred themselves to a watchdog in relation to her death as a matter of routine.
The watchdog - the Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC) - found "no evidence to indicate that police had contributed in any way to Ms Williams' death". The IOPC also noted a jury at an inquest on Wednesday returned a verdict of a drug-related death.
