Junctions known as “State and Main” are prime real estate in cities across the U.S. In Springfield, three of the corners at that downtown intersection are poised for growth, renewal and civic prosperity.
The exception is the block owned by MGM Springfield. When the company signed a host community agreement with the city 12 years ago, it promised to rehab the historic building it later acquired at 101 State St. Instead, after several possible ventures didn’t pan out, the property has been neglected.
