CEDAR FALLS, Iowa (KTIV) - The Bishop Heelan Crusaders were in Cedar Falls on Friday, competing for the Class 3A Football State Title.
They fell to the Nevada Cubs 27-6 at the UNI-Dome, making them this year’s runners-up.
The Cubs started off the game getting a touchdown and a field goal in the first quarter, followed by another field goal in the second. Heelan would go into the second half behind 13-0.
Heelan would get a touchdown in the third, but wouldn’t get the PAT, making it 13-6 going into the final quarter. The Cubs would expand their lead in the fourth, getting 14 points to finish out the game 27-6.
Going into the championship, Heelan and Nevada had 10-2 overall records this season.
