PLACER COUNTY, California (KOLO) - The Placer County Sheriff’s Office has created a new nonprofit organization to help investigate cold cases.
The Placer County Cold Case Foundation is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, created to help offset the costs of advancing cold case investigations. The PCSO says cold cases can cost upwards of $50,000 per case, depending on their complexity.
The county is currently dealing with more than 80 cold cases, including homicides, missing persons, and unidentified remains.
“The Placer County Cold Case Foundation will make a tangible difference in our ability to pursue justice and provide closure,” said Sheriff Wayne Woo. “Every case represents a person, a family, and a community still waiting for answers.”
