LUCKEY, Ohio — The village of Luckey’s solicitor and its council president have resigned amid an ongoing battle over the village’s forced acquisition of a quarry using eminent domain.
Luckey’s solicitor, Corey Speweik, submitted his resignation Wednesday, effective at the end of the year. Council president, Michael Franklin, resigned on Nov. 12 effective immediately.
Mr. Speweik cites “recent situations which have arisen outside of my control” in his letter to Mayor Cory Panning and the village council, while Mr. Franklin, in a brief email to Mr. Panning, did not give any additional information.
Mr. Speweik, Mr. Panning, and Mr. Franklin did not respond to requests for comment.
