BURLINGTON, Vt. (WCAX) - The top gun at the Vermont Guard is stepping down.

Major General Greg Knight, Vermont’s adjutant general, is retiring and plans to leave his post in March.

Knight’s military career began in 1983 when he joined the U.S. Coast Guard. He then joined the Vermont National Guard, where he rose through the ranks to become a major general and commander of the Guard. He was elected Vermont’s adjutant general in 2019, a post he has held since then.
