CHARLESTON -- West Virginians are encouraged to submit photos of their loved ones who are serving or previously served in the US military or as first responders for inclusion on the state's honor trees.

These photographs will be featured on the annual Honor Trees displayed at the State Capitol during the Christmas season.

Gov. Patrick Morrisey and First Lady Denise Morrisey said this long-standing tradition carries a special significance for them, according to a news release. The First Lady’s father served in the US military along with her brother, who was an F-14 fighter pilot. Gov. Morrisey’s father was a World War II veteran, and his mother was a Veterans Administration nurse.

This year’s Honor Trees will be placed outside the Governor’s Reception Room in the smaller rotunda. A third
