President Donald Trump’s plan to add five more GOP-leaning seats in Texas will “backfire” on Republicans, said the Wall Street Journal’s editorial board.

A trio of federal judges blocked Texas from using its new U.S. House district maps in the 2026 midterm elections earlier this week. Trump pushed Texas Republicans earlier this year to redraw its district lines to add five more GOP-leaning seats to the House.

The Wall Street Journal’s editorial board argued that Trump’s redistricting plan will have dire consequences for the GOP in next year’s elections.
