KINGSTON, N.Y. — Ulster County’s new Veterans Treatment Court “is not a free pass, but is “a rigorous restorative process that holds veterans accountable,” County Executive Jen Metzger said Friday. “This is a team effort, and it will save lives.”

Veterans charged with felonies and misdemeanors in Ulster County can benefit from the new Veterans Treatment Court, speakers at an opening ceremony said Friday.

A ceremony at the Ulster County Courthouse on Friday, Nov. 21, included an Ulster County Sheriff’s honor guard and marked the official opening of the court, which targets “justice-involved veterans charged with misdemeanors and felonies who may suffer from addiction and mental health issues,” officials said.
