In a shocking incident at HMP Isle of Wight, three prison guards have reportedly been injured after being stabbed by an inmate armed with a makeshift weapon. ‌

The alleged attack took place on Thursday (November 20), prompting police to initiate an investigation. ‌

As reported by The Island Echo, two guards were swiftly transported to the nearby St Mary's Hospital following the assault in the jail's Inpatient Unit on the Albany site. A 32 year old man suffered facial injuries, while a 28 year old man sustained injuries to his right arm. ‌

It is believed that a third staff member also received minor injuries during the alleged attack at the facility on Parkhurst Road, Newport. ‌
