GENOA, Ark. - A southwest Arkansas teacher is being celebrated as one of the state's greatest educators.

The Arkansas Department of Education launched the Arkansas Excellence in Teaching Fellowship Program earlier this year.

“I wanted to become a teacher because honestly, what other profession do you affect generations to come,” said Jamie Bond, Genoa Central Elementary School teacher.

Bond is a third-grade teacher at Genoa Central Elementary School. She's been teaching in the classroom for 14 years.

Bond was recently selected for the Arkansas Excellence in Teaching Fellowship Program.

“It's a high honor to sit with people who have excelled in the classroom,” said Bond.

Bond is one of 23 teachers across the state selected for the fellowship program.
