Rescue teams have been scrambled after the collapse of a coal mine in Spain which has left at least two dead.
The fatal incident happened at the Vega de Rengos mine in the village of Cangas del Narcea today, with reports claiming at least one miner is still trapped following a coal fall. The area's Emergency Coordination Centre was alerted of the incident at 4:58pm local time.
Emergency services rushed to “a ground collapse” on level two of the mine in Vega de Rengos, around a mile from its entrance. They said “there are three miners who are not contactable”. Two bodies were recovered earlier this evening, Spanish outlet El Pais report.
