East Bay Congressman Eric Swalwell announced Thursday that he will run for California governor next year. Swalwell, who frequently challenges President Donald Trump and helped manage the 2021 impeachment case against Trump, announced his bid for governor on Thursday night. “The President has militarized our streets, canceled cancer research, zeroed out clean energy climate projects, and is chasing our immigrant friends and neighbors through their workplaces, kids’ schools, and houses of worship,” Swalwell said. “California’s next governor has two jobs.
