FARGO — Preparations are underway to keep animals at the Red River Zoo warm and safe, but most of them tend to enjoy the cold winters.

While the porcupines and koi fish either need to have their areas adjusted or moved, a majority of the animals are cold weather adaptive and only need their areas monitored for heavy snowfall and excess water.

The zoo’s CEO says one animal they have that most people do not usually associate with the winter weather are their two-humped camels, which can even adapt to weather up to 40 degrees below zero.
